SUMMARY: This position is designed to provide guests to Duckhorn Vineyards with an outstanding and unique winery experience. We offer traditional seated tastings, along with private, educational experiences. The presentation of wines to guests must be carried out properly, professionally, and in a manner consistent with the philosophy and style of The Duckhorn Portfolio. Wine Specialists will have strong wine knowledge, or willingness to learn, and exhibit enthusiasm in sharing this information with our guests.

The ideal candidate will engage, educate and entertain all wine enthusiasts, have an appreciation for the diverse wine and food culture within the Napa Valley and possess a positive attitude and is an effective team player in an often fast paced environment. The estimated time frame for this seasonal position is September 2021 through December 2021.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing guests with an outstanding and unique experience through:
• Educate guests on Duckhorn wines, in addition to wines in our Duckhorn Portfolio
• Actively promote wine sales and Wine Club memberships to create long-term relationships with our brands
• Assist guests with information and reservations at area restaurants, hotels, and other wineries as needed
• Host unique, educational tastings for all guests including Trade and VIPs, groups sizes 1-40 people
• Monitor and uphold visual standards of all areas with guest access

Daily Operations:
• Understand and use the POS system to perform opening and closing procedures, perform sales functions and assemble daily deposits
• Maintain daily inventory of wines by counting cases/bottles at start and end of day
• Restock cellar, package wines for guests, assist with delivery to vehicle when necessary
• Answer phones when necessary and understand where to direct incoming calls
• Assist with preparation of food plates and food accompaniments
• Assist with washing and polishing of glassware
• Perform closing duties to ensure cleanliness and security

Ongoing:
• Actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and trainings
• Support onsite and offsite events as needed
• Support the sales and marketing staff as needed by hosting their referrals to Duckhorn Vineyards
• Cross train at other Duckhorn Portfolio Estate Visitor Centers as requested

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 6 months wine industry or hospitality experience
• Knowledge of general winemaking and viticulture techniques or strong willingness to learn
• Ability to acquire specific knowledge of The Duckhorn Portfolio
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to lift 42 pounds, on a repeated basis
• Basic computer skills, including POS and reservation systems
• Flexible schedule to include weekends and some evenings
• Able to stand for long periods of time
