Manhattan Wine Company (MWC) is accepting candidates for a full-time, Retail Associate position to start as soon as possible at its West Chelsea Wine and Spirits shop. In 2006, MWC was founded as a customer-first, full-service wine storage provider in northern New Jersey and in 2015 opened its flagship retail shop at 606 West 28th Street in the dynamic Hudson Yards/Highline neighborhood. The shop’s modern, yet rustic space is the perfect venue to showcase passionately curated wines and spirits. The shop’s inventory focuses heavily on French and Italian wines, and while rooted in the classics, there is also an emphasis on wines from unexpected and historic places around the world. This is not your typical wine shop following market trends and cashing in on heavily marketed brands, but rather one that is deeply in love with delicious and exciting wines made traditionally with minimal intervention from unique and expressive terroirs. The shop has developed a loyal customer base of both serious collectors and enthusiastic novices alike by focusing on pleasure and delivering value at all price points. With more than 30 years of combined NYC buying experience, an incredible inventory of current and back-vintage offerings, one of the most attractive physical wine shops anywhere in the world and a full-service wine storage facility behind it, the shop is in a league of its own.

The ideal candidate will have wine related experience and a working knowledge of all the major wine regions/benchmark producers. Candidates with previous wine retail experience are preferred. The position requires a motivated and passionate individual that thrives in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will be required to learn sophisticated POS, Ecomm, and inventory management systems. The candidate will be responsible for shop-keeping, merchandising, tasting/event execution, opening/closing duties, local delivery fulfillment and must be willing to lift and move up to 40lbs of weight at a time throughout the business day. The candidate will also assist in selling on the floor, over the phone and via email. Strong communication, organizational and computer skills are a must. Integrity and personal pride are paramount.
