Summary
The Head Brewer leads the brewing team and drives the production of high quality, consistent, and innovative beers. The Head Brewer oversees all brewery operations and owns beer production throughout the process of recipe development, material sourcing, brewing, cellaring, packaging, and quality control.
The Head Brewer is a key leadership role that works closely with other members of the management team to develop strategic plans for sales growth, brand development, and product innovation.
Responsibilities
• Lead new product development via recipe formulation, innovative techniques, and collaboration with team members throughout the organization.
• Collaborate with Fulfillment and Sales Team in the weekly production planning meeting to set bright beer production goals to meet sales demand and seasonal release schedule.

• Plan and manage the brewing and cellar production schedule to efficiently meet bright beer production goals.
• Manage, schedule, and train brewing team members.
• Source all raw materials and maintain strong partnerships with raw material vendors.
• Coordinate with the Warehouse team to ensure that raw material purchasing and inventory levels satisfy the production plan.
• Lead the R&D program and manage the pilot brewhouse schedule for Tasting Room exclusive small batch beers.
• Strive for continuous improvements in beer quality, consistency, and cost.
• Manage brewery operating expenses and payroll according to the budget.
• Perform brewhouse, cellar, CIP, QC, and packaging duties as needed.
• Maintain and create SOPs as needed to ensure that all brewing, cellar, CIP, QC, and packaging processes are completed by team members in a consistent, safe, and efficient manner.
• Ensure that the brewery equipment and production area is kept clean, organized, and in good working order to meet quality, sanitation, and safety standards.
• Oversee and coordinate brewery maintenance conducted by professional contractors as needed.

• Oversee brewery safety protocols and compliance measures.
• Communicate with Sales, Marketing, and Tasting Room team members regarding beer style details and tasting notes.
Requirements
• 3-5 years of professional experience in a brewer, head brewer, or brewery production manager role.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully creating beer recipes.
• Prior experience with pilot brewing, canning, bottling, and barrel aging is preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical field and/or formal brewing education is preferred.

• Ability to report for work in a timely manner
• Willingness to work on varying shift schedules, including weekends and overnights

• Ability to clearly communicate with coworkers and management in verbal and written form
• Must have sufficient visual acuity and hearing in order to safely operate machinery, safely operate motor vehicles, and to perform work in a neat and thorough manner
