Horseneck Wine & Spirits, Greenwich Connecticut’s oldest and most prominent wine & spirits shop is seeking a Senior Beverage Specialist to join our experienced and efficient team. With new ownership as of 2018 Horseneck has quickly become the most exciting and comfortable place in town to shop for fine wine, beer, and spirits as well as a growing and highly curated selection of organic/natural wines. Horseneck shares ownership and operations with Vanderbilt Ave Wine Merchants in Brooklyn, NY, one of NYC’s Top Wine Stores and a nationally recognized destination for natural wines, so this is a great opportunity to join a leading team in Greenwich and have opportunities to grow from exposure to the NYC market. We are looking for an experienced, affable, and trustworthy person to fill this position. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact at a top wine destination with potential for growth. The position is full-time, hourly to start, converting to salary and commensurate with experience and fit.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Beverage Specialist is a subject-matter-expert in all things wine, beer, and spirits and works with customers in a number of capacities to grow sales and foster deeper relationships. This position reports to the Owner. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work in the store including opening and closing responsibilities
  • Manage and develop relationships with customers
  • Act as a subject matter expert regarding our selection of wines, spirits, and beers
  • Represent the business as needed for events, tastings, interview requests, etc.
  • Create and publish e-mail and social media offers
  • Work with customers, caterers, and party planners to develop beverage programs for private and charity events throughout the year
  • Analyze and utilize sales, product, and customer data on an ad hoc basis

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate possesses the following skills, abilities, and qualifications:

  • 3+ years in the wine industry, prior high-end retail sales experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of the distributor/wholesale landscape in CT/NY
  • Comfort and knowledge of benchmark / high-end wines and spirits
  • Desire to work with and a taste for natural wines is a plus
  • Current client/customer relationships in the Greenwich, CT area is a plus
  • An innate balance of warmth, grace, and professionalism
  • Ability to carry up to 40 lbs up and down a flight of stairs
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Experience with the following software: MS Office Suite, Point-of-Sale systems, Shopify, Mailchimp, Instagram
