The Urban Grape is looking for an enthusiastic full time Event Coordinator whose love for wine comes through in an educational based event whether it be virtual or in person! Working within the Urban Affairs division of the company, the candidate will receive in-depth on-the-job training about hospitality, events and wine and related products; get to meet winemakers from around the world; work with unique, high-quality products; and work with fabulous and knowledgeable clients! What is Urban Affairs: Through community connection, education and events, Urban Affairs exists to amplify the Urban Grape brand while carving a path of higher mindfulness for consumers on their wine journeys, and to create life-long UG customers by identifying customer needs at every step of their journey.
Responsibilities:
1. Supports the planning, management and execution for virtual, private and in-person events.
2. Under guidance of the Director of Urban Affairs, tasks related to the execution of logistical details for events including but not limited to developing client quotes and proposals, client invoicing, obtaining certificates of insurance, liaising and negotiating with vendors and caterers.
3. Recommends, develops, and implements effective marketing plans for generating event revenues.
4. Administers all phases of the event department, including but not limited to hosting, sales, planning, marketing, servicing, and administrative procedures.
5. Works with The Urban Grape sales associates to execute in-store events.
6. Collaborates with distributors to determine products shown based on inventory, seasonality, price and profit-margins, and customer interest. Works with the General Manager to develop purchase orders for items for each event.
7. Attends conferences, meetings, and industry events.
8. Participates in product tastings to increase knowledge and ability to effectively meet the needs of the customer.
9 . Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* We are looking for passionate event industry professionals who wants to grow their knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits, and are excited to represent The Urban Grape’s products, services, and core values.
* One to two years of operational experience in the events, restaurant or hospitality industries is a must.
* Advanced-level wine, beer and spirits knowledge preferred (formal education/certification preferred, i.e. WSET Level III, Elisabeth Bishop, Court of Sommeliers, etc).
* Customer service skill set: demonstrate “best-in-class” customer service for our client base.
* We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated, hardworking, task-oriented, and enthusiastic!
* You must be comfortable carrying and moving cases of wine (40 pounds).
* Scheduling: holiday, evening, and weekend availability is necessary.
* Able to efficiently handle multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Must be comfortable using a computer and typing emails to customers and coworkers.
