Role Objectives
This role is responsible for driving revenue growth for Baobab Wines across Colorado and in line with the Company goals and objectives for the State. Based in Colorado the incumbent will be expected to primarily drive sales through retail and restaurant clients across the entire State of Colorado both developing and maintaining accounts. We are a young and small Company so the role holder will have daily access and report to the CEO and get involved in all facets of the daily operations of the business. Whilst this role is primarily focussed on Colorado, there are potential opportunities to get involved in sales activities across the United States and plenty of room for growth within a Company that boasts distribution in over 20 States.
Duties and Responsibilities
This role will include but not be limited to the following activities and responsibilities.
• Ensure the agreed upon financial, volume and profit goals for the region are achieved.
• Regular reporting on sales metrics for the region
• Strategize with the CEO to enhance contribution to Colorado sales strategies and goals.
• Consistently communicate territory success or obstacles with the CEO and efficiently problem solve to overcome any obstacles.
• Familiarize yourself with the competition and remain apprised of market trends and development within the wine category, geographic regions, and accounts.
• Promote the Baobab Wines portfolio to consumers through various programs and events. This will include evening and weekends hosting events and tastings.
• Assist CEO with portfolio selection as required and give good market insight for trends in pricing and product style.
• Assist CEO with product development of brands being created for the Portfolio.
• Support and Promote the Giving Back Program and the Baobab Wines Foundation to support various youth charities across Africa.
Colorado Direct Sales Responsibilities
• Build an account base and directly sell in the Colorado market.
• Establish and maintain product placements in on and off premise accounts. This is a Feet on Street role that requires the hustle to open new business and maintain it.
• Help build a broad base of distribution across the State to ensure revenue diversification across products and placements.
• Educate, train, and develop knowledge on products across all on and off premise accounts.
• Inspire confidence and gain respect as an effective Company Spokesperson across all customers.
• Host staff training events for both on and off premise accounts
• Conduct tastings and wine dinners in key restaurant and retail accounts
• Work with warehouse and operations team to make sure product is delivered as per ordered and resolve any problems encountered.
• Ensure all payments are received in time and in full from all customers.
The Individual
• Willing to work flexible hours including evenings, and weekends. Overnight Travel as required.
• Travel mainly domestic and in Colorado, with occasional trips to South Africa as required
• A bachelor’s degree preferred
• At least 5 years Sales Experience in the Wine Industry and as a Sales Representative. Colorado experience preferred but not required and out of states applicants are welcome.
• Good general wine knowledge, and some experience of South African wine preferred.
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and function as a self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Ability to drive and maintain a valid and current driver license.
• Lift and carry a 36-pound case on occasion.
• Ability to understand and manage budgets, profitability, and expenses.
• Ability to communicate enthusiasm, maintain a positive attitude and a strong resilience to adversity.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with a passion for teaching and learning
• Passion for working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt quickly to change.
• Am exemplary work ethic, a “get-it-done” attitude and high personal accountability.
