A highly respected importer/distributor seeks an experienced NYC-based Sales Director.

POSITION STATEMENT
The Sales Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for the sales team by working with ownership to establish sales goals, strategies, and tactical plans. They will be responsible for directing, communicating, motivating, organizing, and controlling execution of company goals through the assigned personnel. They will be the direct line to ownership communicating the status and needs of company sales representatives as well as customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (but not limited to)

• Develop and implement strategic sales plan to drive revenues and achieve company goals and initiatives.
• Direct sales development activity and coordinate sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, KPI’s and overall goals for sales team.
• Manage and motivate a team of 6 sales reps; define expectations, monitor progress, and counsel if expectations are not met.
• Clearly define and execute a go-to-market sales strategy to drive new business revenue.
• Develop a high-performing scalable sales culture, with both a competitive and collaborative company mindset.
• Drive revenues and present monthly and quarterly results to ownership.
• Align with supplier representatives to understand their brands, sales goals/projections, and support in securing additional market share through team's effective selling approach.
• Facilitate and foster a high performance, ethical work culture within the sales department. Exercise appropriate behavior during all business activities, always representing the company in the highest professional manner.
• Establish and nurture partnerships and relationships with key customers both externally and internally.
• Possess knowledge of products, wine industry, competitive brands, and market.
• Actively manage sales, depletions, inventories, placements, and spends time in market when necessary to support sales team.
• Remove blockers, relentlessly drive for improvement and manage multiple territories within the company.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at a high level. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS
• A four-year college degree and/or equivalent work experience
• At least five years of managerial experience.
• Strong communication and exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Fluent knowledge of PC, working within Microsoft Office.
• Strong mathematical skills: Candidate must have the ability to calculate and interpret financial data which affects everyday business.
