Description

This position is a part-time, seasonal position. Shifts include but are not limited to Fridays – Sundays, April through October. The successful applicant should be available to work weekend days throughout the season, approximately 24 hours per week. Shifts may be weather-dependent.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Dodon seeks to provide its wine club members and guests with an elegant, impeccable, warm, and familiar experience. To achieve this goal, the successful applicant will lead the Dodon event staff in executing visitation hours, tours, tastings, wine sales, and wine club sign-ups during April – October 2021.

The hospitality manager will be assist in managing wine education, hospitality, inventory management, staff management, and safe alcohol service. Specific tasks will include:

• Open and close the property for the day.
• Setting up and starting the shift, including arriving before any other staff, opening the property, and overseeing the host, bartenders & runners with event setup.
• Ensure that the team sets up and starts the shift on time.
• Offer educational winery and vineyard tours and guided wine tastings for small groups during each shift.
• During the shift, assist and delegate the service of wine orders, table cleaning, assisting guests, and other tasks as necessary.
• Engage with guests, troubleshoot, answer questions, sell wine, and work to convert non-members to members.
• Answer questions for staff.
• Ensure that the team breaks down and ends the shift on time.
• Ensure that inventory is tracked and reported correctly.
• Will assist with staff training.
• Troubleshoot and report any property/building/maintenance issues.
• Occasionally will support the Wine Club Manager and Director of Client Services in special or private events.

Qualifications
• Passionate and knowledgeable about wine, viticulture, and enology. Formal wine training is not required, but wine knowledge must be demonstrable. CMS or WSET training is preferred.
• Highest customer service skills; professional demeanor and appearance; outgoing personality; entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, and leadership; commitment to excellence, including the highest standards of work and accountability, and continuous improvement; ability to successfully manage priorities and workflow for multiple simultaneous projects.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work unsupervised.
• This candidate should be ready to problem solve, evolve, shift with the business's changing needs, and come to work with a positive and creative outlook.
• Professional oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with, or ability to learn, point of sale systems, iPads, and Microsoft office.

Requirements
• Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds across rough terrain.
• Weekend availability. Must be able to commit to 24 hours per week (Friday-Sunday).
• Work is completed mostly outside during warm to hot summer months. Applicant must work outdoors in heat and humidity for 9 hours per day, walk hills, grassy areas. Time indoors is limited.
• Careful attention to detail and inventory management is essential.

Compensation
• This position will be compensated at an hourly rate. Employees may not accept gratuity based on The Vineyards at Dodon's gratuity policy.
• Employees will receive a discount on wine purchases.
• This candidate will have the opportunity to engage with vineyard and winery staff, ask questions about production, and volunteer or work on occasional production tasks like bottling, harvest, and sorting, as needed.
